Set It Off Volleyball and Real Food 4 Kids Launch Partnership to Bring Nutrition Education to Young Athletes
West Des Moines, Iowa — Set It Off Volleyball (SIOV), a youth volleyball club serving the Greater Des Moines area, is proud to announce a new partnership with Sue Honkamp and the Real Food program portfolio, a widely respected nutrition education organization. Beginning with the 2025–2026 season, SIOV will integrate the Real Food 4 Life Food Education Course into its training program, giving players and their families practical, age-appropriate guidance on fueling for health, performance, and longevity.
This collaboration reflects both organizations’ shared conviction that athletic development is not just about technique or strength. A well-rounded program must include education about nutrition, healthy habits, and holistic wellness.
“Training on the court is only part of it,” said Matt Christensen, President of Set It Off Volleyball. “By partnering with Real Food 4 Kids, we’re investing in our players’ ability to make smart food decisions, understand how nutrition influences energy, and take care of themselves off the court as well.”
The Real Food 4 Life Food Education Course teaches youth about the origins of food, the fundamentals of nutrition, and how to develop lifelong healthy habits, recognizing that eating habits have a direct impact on one’s ability to focus in the classroom, on the practice field, and in everyday life. The program empowers kids and teens, along with their families, to make informed food choices that support both their well-being and performance. Parents, educators, and medical professionals endorse the program.
“We are thrilled to bring our Real Food 4 Life Food Education Course into the Set It Off community,” said Sue Honkamp, Founder and Owner of the Real Food program portfolio. “Athletes need real, sustainable food habits to power their performance and support their growth. The inclusion of our course is an exciting step toward expanding our mission.”
The program rollout begins in November 2025 and will initially reach Set It Off Volleyball’s 9U-11U age divisions and their families, with plans to expand over time.
